Nutriments and osteoporosis: is calcium enough?
Nutritional factors can influence skeletal development during growth and
bone maintenance during adulthood (RIZZOLI and BONJOUR, 1999). Therefore
nutrition plays an important role in the prevention of osteoporosis, a disease
which affects one in three women and one in eight men during their lives.
Among nutriments with potential impact on bone health, most attention sofar
has been focused on calcium.
